6. Side by Side (Basic Life Support Workshop)

On April 29 2017, volunteers under the IMU Community Service club taught basic life support to builders under the well-known non-governmental organization, EPIC. These builders from EPIC are selfless volunteers who dedicate their time and money to build IKEA-esque houses in various villages in Malaysia for the natives, otherwise known as ‘Orang asli’.

BLS-certified students from IMU volunteered their time to tutor these builders in learning and perfecting their technique in high quality chest compressions, rescue breaths and assisting a choking infant. The builders were then divided into small groups where they were given the time and opportunity to learn and practice the sequence and technique of CPR, under the guidance of our peer tutors.
